music

I’ve been playing guitar for over 10 years, though I play much less now than I wish did nowadays. Nowadays I post most of my music over at my YouTube channel. Here are some demo-quality recordings I’ve made over the years:

Originals

  • O Que Vêm—Bossa-style song in Portuguese.
  • Lines—Acoustic finger-picking love song.
  • Lone Light—Written freshman year; pretty solo near the end.
  • Abel—Lyrics are just placeholders, but the solo at the end (1:43, with 3 interlocking guitars) is my favorite.
  • Lace—I used to think panning vocals hard left/right was a good idea…song is okay though.
  • Summer in Europe—One of the first songs I ever wrote, in high school. Super cheesy drum-machine throughout, but still one of the catchiest songs I've written.

Covers

  • Blue Moon—Big Star cover version, with keyboard and synth flute.
  • (This is) the Dream of Evan and Chan—DNTEL/Ben Gibbard cover.
  • Good Morning Mr. Edmington—of Montreal cover recorded for tribute album; has some fun keyboard bits at the beginning.
  • Castways & Cutouts—Almost complete recording of The Decemberists’ Castaways & Cutouts album, recorded in one take without stopping (missing Cocoon).
  • Site handmade in TextMate and CSSEdit, using jQuery (plus CurvyCorners and Lightbox). Background image courtesy of a destroyed Field Notes notebook.
